Thursday Trending: Just Keep Adding

Just keep adding, just keep adding...yes, I want you to repeat it in the same song-like pattern as Dorrie from Finding Nemo.  Sometimes it is hard to come up with titles for the blog posts...

Yet, just keep adding is my personal trend.  How to make a 12 X 12 look slightly different, slightly unique.  Because there are only so many ways to make a page.  So lately, it is still clean...but with extras.

Like the ric rac that I hung as garland.  The garland trick I have done before, but the material to create it is different, slightly unique.  I had the plan to use the garland to hang my title.  I love little alphabet letters, but don't like how ungrounded they can look.  So they must hang!  That was still not quite enough...so I had to hang more ric rac for interest.  Just keep adding.

When the basic design was done and I decided on the garland, I added the pinwheel sticker and the buttons.  All those layers seem to balance out the photos.

I used the June Grab Bag from My Scrapbook Nook featuring Simple Stories and Jillibean.  The Grab Bag is sold in addition to the coordinating kit...it is actually the size of a small kit!  I love both items!!!  Here is the kit!

Pam just keeps adding too...here is her monthly special!

We only have 5 grab bags left for May. So here it is-the next five people who join will receive the May kit and a free June kit! You will also receive a free grab bag for May and June!!!! After one year paid in the club you will receive another kit for free!!!! This deals gives you $110.00 plus dollars free. This is the first time we are running this special and only have 5 May grab bags left.

So what are you doing later to just keep adding or just to it fresh in general...do share!

Behind the Page: Simple Stories

Who knew Simple Stories could be soo fun to scrap with?  It is featured in the June My Scrapbook Nook kit along with Jillibean Soup and American Crafts.  I am so loving these papers!!

The motifs have a lot to do with summer, but can be used in a variety of ways.  My page was built upon the feel of the ribbon award that reads, "Best Memory."  I feel in love and immediately thought of the photos of my mom and dad with all the grandkids.  I adore that this fun moment was captured...it really show my mom's spirit with her grandkids.  She would do anything for them.

I simply started clustering from the ribbon.  It is big so it needed some balance...hence the large title and the cluster to the top left.  Big titles are making me happy these days!!

I used the green Jillibean card to the right of the layout to add that final touch of balance.  Plus, I think the brightness brings the eye to the photos more!

The cluster is just built upon journaling bits and stickers from the collection.

It is a simple story to be told...and I tried to make the layout as fun as the photos.  It was easy with this awesome kit!!
Happy scrapping!

Love, Actually

If you are here for the Scrap That! blog hop, see the post below this one:  here.  Thanks for visiting my blog!

I am sitting here, enjoying the pace of the long weekend.  Steve and I watched Ella at her recital last night...proud parents.  We were so proud of Nathan too as he was awesome during the show.  We all took our first dip in the pool today and the summer has pure fun written all over it.  Simple times with the family.

I have scrapped a few pages about Steve and me lately.  Thanks to Easter, we took some time to snap photos of just the two of us.  I am so thankful he is in my life.  His devotion to me the past few months means so much.  He stood by my side as I took on some challenges.  And I felt safe because of him.

He is my home.

I used the Amy Tan line to create this...so lovely!  The motifs are fun to use!  I am really into the one small photo these days!  The map paper and key all helped me create my theme for this layout!

I can't wait for summer to begin.  Just the four of us, enjoying life and living in the blessed world we have created for ourselves.

Behind the Page: Peek-a-Boo

This month the design team over at Webster's Pages had the joy of scraplifting Jen Jockish!  She is an amazing scrapbooker and sees through unique eyes...her designs are undeniably hers!

I am a bit of her opposite...my lines are straight, the holes in my buttons need to face a certain direction and things need to have a clear purpose on my pages.  It was liberating to let that go and create under a different set of rules!  I tilted, I layered...

...and I played peek-a-boo.  In Jen style, I tucked elements under other elements, even though it blocked the view or a word.

I liked how it looks!  The page is still me because I can't tilt everything and totally let go.  But it is influenced.

Notice the half butterfly, half underneath the tag that you can't read all the way.  And the Love tag peeking out with the other things in the cluster! Some of you might be giggling at me...but I don't  usually do that...I would anaylze that for an hour...LOL!

I used the Everyday Poetry line to create this page!

The page celebrates my love for vignettes and groupings all throughout my home!  I love to mix antiques with Target finds with photos.  I move these around quite frequently!

This page was fun to make...it was entertaining to look for odds and ends and play a bit of peek-a-boo.

At Home: Summer Ready

So while we spent this weekend opening our pool and getting the outdoors in shape, I am going to share some winter layouts with you.  LOL...timing is everything right!?

My at-home activities are all about the yard right now.  Little things mostly...weeding the gardens and dreaming of what changes I want to make.  It is finally warm here and I hope it stays this way!

But, before it hits a 90 degree day...here are two winter layouts.

I used new Teresa Collins on these!

This first one features Everyday Moments...I love the die-cuts.  And I love this boy!  He had some teeth out this week and I just wanted to hug him for two days straight! This photo captures his spirit!

And this winter layout...about Ella's hat for the 2012 Winter Season.  It is like she plays a sport...buying the right hat is key!  LOL!  I added pearls to this to make it look like snow!  I used the Fabrications line for this layout!

Yep, I will have summer pictures for you in December...oh well!  It is what it is!

Thursday Trending: Triangles

Chevrons, yep.  Circles, of course...Now, it is the triangle.

I am not talking about the triangle in relation to the banner...although I love banners.  I am talking about using the triangle as a design element...creating interesting patterns (I have a layout to show you soon).

On my latest project, I used it to close in my page and ground the photo.  I am a strip-using kinda gal, but I don't want to be stale.  So I went with side triangles instead of strips.

Triangle are easy to make...I just punched a square and cut each one in half.

This layout captures my style...my favorite necklace, which was a gift.  Because quite honestly, I am not that adventurous.  Once you decide to wear a statement, to make a statement...you realize you can take a risk.

I used the Everyday Moments collection by Teresa Collins to make this layout...brads, chipboard, die-cuts!

My necklace is about ovals...but my layout celebrates the triangle!

Tuesday Tips: Do what you Love

Even if you have done it before.  Even if the color has been repeated.  Don't overthink.

I spend far too much creative time overthinking...that is stifling and unnecessary.  So I decided to stop.

I have used the green background paper on three layouts in the recent past...but I love the pop it gives.  So I can use it again and just change up the rest of my design.

To add difference to this layout, I incorporated the varying sized circles.  These were cut from a sheet of patterned paper.  I love that pink one!  The biggest change is that I cut that garland from a sheet of paper.  I was going to run several of them horizontally, but decided to curve it a bit.

I topped everything off with a Sparkler and some hemp twine.  This layout was made using the new Girl Land collection...the colors are so vibrant!  I love them.  It is shipping now!  Head to the Webster's site!

And head to the post below and leave a comment as a part of the Webster's blog hop.  Big prizes are on the line!!

Off to watch Dancing with the Stars...hey, what can I say...I love what I love!!

At Home: Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day...a time when the kids bring me poems they wrote at school and serve me breakfast in bed, when Steve gives me the day off.  Nathan was soo excited to make today special.  He wrote me a poem and one of the lines read "you're a beautiful star."  Gosh, who doesn't want to hear that.

I feel very lucky today to have this beautiful family. This unit that holds all my hopes, dreams, fears and love.  These people have enhanced my life more than I ever thought possible and my gratitude today is huge!

The kids and I looked through their baby scrapbooks today.  I read them all my journaling and we giggled like crazy.  Nathan could spend the entire day doing that...he is so loyal and loving. We found photos of people passed and felt lucky to have those moments recorded.  Nathan asked Steve and I to see our scrapbooks from when we were babies.  Steve explained that we don't have those...that is what makes it so special that they do.

That is why I scrap.  Forget the teams, the collections, the embellishments.  It is the stories.  Those things even I had forgotten until I read them.

and while every day get busy and I lose my cool....while we sometimes forget to share how deep our feelings are...it is obvious how loved my kids are when you look at those books.  It is obvious how much I love them and how they have changed me.

I hope you are having wonderful moments today...you deserve them!!

Be sure to come by tomorrow as Webster's is having a blog hop with lots of giveaways!!

It has been a Girl Land kinda week

It started off last week with the Father Daughter dance.  A girl's night dinner tonight where I shared laughs with good friends.  Extra snuggles with my babies as I really they are growing fast.

And, the new Girl Land collection from Websters!  I have a couple of projects to share with you over the next few days...including this coupon book I made as a Mother's Day gift.  I used the papers from the Girl Land collection to whip it up...easy to make and a special, meaningful gift.

I created a traditional matchbook album...but gave it a twist...a cutout window!  It adds some cool dimension and presents a surprise when the book is opened.

This is what it looks like opened...see the cutout and how the yellow circle is popped up and through a bit!

The intro card let's Nana know what this album is all about!

I cut one of the sheets of paper into these awesome square motifs and put coupons on the back.

I purposefully chose motifs that matched meaningful traditions or moments.  Like this one:

I love homemade gifts, especially when you have a Nana that has everything!

For instructions on how to make this book, head over to the Creating Keepsakes Blog.  It is featured there as a part of the Girl Land celebration!

I have a bit of a surprise for you today over at the Webster's pages blog...get a glimpse of what I love about being a girl!

And don't laugh...LOL!
