It Happens, Right?

...a little weepy today. Life really is great overall...my kids are happy and healthy, my future is bright as Steve and I get ready to move into our dream house, I have seen some scrappy goals come to fruition, friends are good...

but I am weepy. I have a reason. I am nervous about my dad. He will be having open heart surgery at the week's end. Truly, I realize that it is a routine operation these days and the success rate is fabulous. But he is my dad. Has been my rock for all of my life. There is no one quite like him to me. So I am nervous.

It is probably exaggerated by the fact that my family can't take any more tragedy or loss. We have suffered so much this past year. Everyone is just coming out of the grief. There will always be a sadness, regret and loss. But the light is back in people's eyes and plans for the future are being formulated with great enthusiasm. So I am nervous.

I didn't realize it until I was standing in my kitchen and started to cry a bit. It happens, those days where you just feel off no matter what is happening around you.

And so, I share it. Put it out into the universe, write about it, scrap about it because I gain strength from that process. And I know that I am supported, that prayers will follow.

Wanted to share a layout I created for the ezine...captures all the emotions surrounding family loss.

I know that happy days can't exist without weepy days. That I will have many moments where I am nervous. It will be okay...it has to be!

  2. I will be thinking of you Stacey. I can't say I know what it's like to have a father go through surgery of any kind. But to be out of control of a situation I am well familiar with. I am so thankful that I have a strength and a peace that comes from God to help carry me through those times. And friends...they are the ones who want to come in and comfort us in times like this. I know from following your blog for a while now, that you have many. I have no doubt you will be blessed doubly in return for sharing humbly with us. Take comfort in their peace, and their strength, and put one foot in front of the other until you greet your father post surgery.

  3. Hi Stacey,
Your Dad and family will be in my thoughts this weekend... I know how difficult it is to watch someone you love go through surgery -- even if it is "routine". My Dad had surgery years ago and I was a wreck. He came through it though with flying colors and I'm sure your Dad is a trooper, too -- especially with all the thoughts and prayers with him!
And by the way, your layout is beautiful and that photo is just amazing... you are blessed to have caputred the moment -- even as sad as it is... at least you'll never forget that precious face!
    Hugs...

  15. I'll be thinking about you and your Dad Stacey. My husband had a triple bypass and valve replacement three years ago and it was a very scary time. It was almost scarier to me the first few days of recovery - I wasn't prepared for the level of disability at first. But things DO GET BETTER! He is fine now. He has more energy. So focus on all the good stuff to come!
