I Could Give You a Lame Title

or I can just admit that I don't have one...LOL!  I am feeling down a bit...putting pressure on myself in this crazy industry.  Thought I sent some GREAT pages, but I was off in my assessment...Why must we all be overachievers?

The rational part of me knows that it doesn't really matter because I scrap to celebrate my family.  In the end, they are most important in all of this.  I will keep repeating it.

My husband says that I put myself in positions where I am being judged by others.  Even when I was coaching cheerleading, our competitions were about being judged by a panel.  At the end of the day, people look at things with different eyes from a different background.  Personal likes have to factor in.  Maybe I am constantly looking for others to like me...he keeps telling me to explore it.  He might be right.

So I share a page with you.  One that I love.  It tells a story and records my family history.

I used a wonderful stamp from My Favorite Things to create the background.  It gives the circle a place to rest and makes me title feel balanced.  This was in the October issue of Scrapstreet.com Magazine!  Be sure to check out the November issue...good stuff!

Off to lick my wounds and then to realize what really matters...

Thanks for listening.

  2. Don't be so hard on yourself - we're all in the same boat, and it's just the nature of being an artist - we are always being judged by others. How good you are and how wonderful your work is isn't determined by others' opinions. Although I think you're awesome, for what it's worth ;)

  3. Oh Stace... you already know how I'm feeling on this topic too. Thanks for your words. If we were in the same town, I'd take us out for a little margaritaville and karaoke. I would make you sing. And then I would... so you could laugh. And I would laugh. And then we'd cry because of what got us upset in the first place AND they would also be tears from so much laughter.

Then we'd be reminded of exactly what you said and jump right back in doing what we LOVE!

  4. Hi Stacey,
Your post resonates with me. I guess not everyone is always going to like each page we make as much as we do and to my mind it's not important that they like it as much as I do, only that I do. It still stings but hey. Keep on keeping on. I love your work.

  7. I love that title Stacey. And good for you for exploring the idea of feeling as though you need others to like you, it's not an uncommon thing for over achievers says another over achiever :) You'll come out stronger on the other side. You can do it!

  9. Stacey, I know why you are down and so I have to remind you that in my eyes you are a rock star. Do you remember me telling you that I'd stalked your work before working with you on the Nook DT? Well, you are still incredible. Yes, everything is so subjective and it doesn't at all mean that you aren't good enough. I think we all do it to ourselves, though. You are amazing. I love that you used the stamp for the background. I have a grid roller stamp that I haven't used in a long time and you've made me want to pull it out again. Have a great day!

  11. Hi!!!

I sooo know what you mean, and I empathize with you. trying out for different things means that there will be some disappointments, but look at all you have accomplished already!!! You should be very proud!!!

You hit the nail right on the head...what counts is that you love what you do. If you get chosen it's only a bonus.

I've been feeling the same way: "does ANYONE like my projects???!!" But in the end as long as we have our families cheering us on as our buggest fans...that's what's important.
Now >I< need to remember these words and try not to take it personal because if YOU go through the same thing...then it's not just me.

  13. When it comes down to it - you do what you love and it makes YOU feel good - finding that special something and being able to explore it is good enough! Remember that- the joy others get from it is just a bonus:) my 2cents....
