Sunburst Saturday

I am addicted...the little sunburst in Allison Kreft's new collections.  I have used one on every layout I have made with her products.  I know I should probably be careful about overuse, but I can't stop myself.  It is like a really great necklace that goes with everything.

I have this adorable photo of my guy.  His smile makes my day.  I wanted the sunburst to convey how it glows.  Along with the red sunburst, I focused on the overlays and trims on this layout.

I used the ruler ribbon along the top of my layout...it adds a really nice texture you can't see from a photo.  I also cut the pink scalloped trim to make that little heart!

See the airplanes...they are from a sheet of overlays.  I decided to only use a couple and place a red brad in the center of each one. The blue twine is from the Composition & Color line.

I placed the white chevron overly from Sweet Notes over the green cardstock...I love how it pops and mixes with the other greens.  Ahh...the sunburst.

This layout uses mostly Composition & Color, but I mixed in some Sweet Notes too!  All Webster's collections are now shipping. 

You too can become a sunburst addict.

I Just Sat Back and Watched

We put up our pre-lit fake tree a couple of weeks ago...lugged the big ole boxes up two flights of stairs (thanks Steve!) and opened them up.  The kids beamed at the thought of decorating.  So this year, for the first year, they decorated the tree! 

My obsessive compulsive self had to adjust to an uneven distribution of ornaments.  There are too many green next to green and shiny next to shiny.  But it is all good...

Much more relaxing doing it this way! Here is a layout to document it!

This one came together quickly...thanks to the Noel line by Teresa Collins!  Look at this sheet of paper for the design blocks that I used!

I added some chipboard and pretty Petaloo flowers!

Grown Up

Recently, I have been thinking about how both of my kids are in school.  How can that be?  I have the extreme treat of having my son attend my elementary school.  I haven't seen him much, but when I do, it just brightens my day!  There is obviously a comfort level so I have been able to enjoy this week tremendously.  Ella is at the same preschool as Nathan was last year.  I have only received positive feedback...she goes with the flow, is quiet at times.....STOP!  what?  The girl who never stops talking, who stirs the pot at every minute.  I hope it lasts...LOL!

I made this layout using Nathan's Pre-K graduation pictures.  The school does it right with a ceremony and caps and gowns! 

I made this using Crate's Restoration line!  Wow, this stuff is gorgeous.  It is featured in The Nook September kit along with other amazing goodies like the yellow ribbon!  I love when you can find coordinating paper to go with the color of your photos.  I actually desaturated my photo a bit to dull down the blue and yellow.  I knew the Crate was more vintagy and distressed so I wanted it to go together.

Speaking of the yellow ribbon...here is a detail I created!

I have my scrappy energy back and it feels good to enjoy this hobby again!  I have been playing a bunch and will have lots of shares!!

Three

Ah, the power of three. I forgot just how much fun age 3 can be--you know all the "hmm, I will not do it." and the attitude that starts. It may be hard to believe that that cute face could be such a terror at times, but it is true. I remember Nathan's horrible threes-eeeek! Somebody needs to give me a full year supply of chocolate if I am going to make it through another one!

Here is my cute, full-of-attitude Ella on her third birthday! I used the May kit from The Nook--these papers are really easy to work with and the embellishments are the perfect colors. I went to make a ribbon flower out of the brown trim and it kinda just fell like that on the page. I liked it and, there you go, an idea was born!




I have been really into three photos on a layout lately, have three cups of coffee each day (when did that happend), and consequently feel like I am getting about 3 hours of sleep each night. I have about 3 pounds that I want to lose--I would love to wear tank tops this summer without having small rolls popping up--just a little tightening! LOL! As such, I have started working out about 3 times each week!

Ah, the magic of 3!
